HAVE YOU HEARD FROM GOD?

Recently I have been thinking about how my life has gone. I have made many choices, some have turned out okay and some have been a dissaster. I have been born again for more than 40 years and yes I commit my decisions to God for His guidance. But the question is, do I really wait for God to advise what I must do? I normally give God a few options to assist Him and then I wait. Of course I am not very patient so I normally use my "gut feel" to go with a decision, figuring that if it is not meant to be, God will close the door.
Am I really hearing from God? Does God really guide us, does He really speak to us?

Tell me your story about "Hearing from God!"

IS THE "X FACTOR" SUSTAINABLE?

What do you think about the points mentioned below? Do they form part of the "X Factor" in a relationship? Are they sustainable or pie in the sky? (Let us have your comment)

Even when its not brand new you need to feel those butterflies when you know you're going to see each other.
Thoughts of that person need to make you sparkle and bubble
The idea of being apart for an hour never mind a day kills you
You want to throw your arms around that person just because they're alive and in your life.
You have to be best friends and share everything
There has to be mutual respect for each other as people and for each others ideas and interests
You feel so proud when they they do something wonderful
You definitely need to laugh together
Intimacy needs to be full of electricity and be an expression of the way you feel about each other.
You have to believe that your partner is the perfect fit (the puzzle of your heart). There cannot be any doubt in your mind
You will be truly relaxed in one another's company
There will be that sense of excitement on every meeting
Although everyone has different hobbies and interests, there will be a common coming together, which will celebrate the uniqueness of the relationship
There will be lots of affirmation
An element of adventure and spontaneity will exist (Let the dreams come true)
Appreciate Gods wonder. Experience the simple things in life. Stop to smell the flowers, take a walk on the beach, create surprises for your partner
Must be able to laugh together, cry together
Intimacy must be a true celebration of the relationship, not a task
Paint a picture together, write a story together, cook together, play together
Your partner must be your closest friend (share fears etc)
Make your partner a Princess or a Prince, and treat her/him like this

ALISON AND MICHELLE

Seen after the service at Living Waters Church, Alison with Michelle, the Pastor's wife.

WHAT A BEAUTY!

This is Nick Oosthuizen's bike. It is beautiful. Please be aware that he is married and yes he may have won the lotto with all the new musical equipment he has acquired as well. He has become a very competent guitarist and I really enjoy having him in my praise and worship team. Definetly a WHM candidate!

This picture was taken outside the Living Waters Church, after the Sunday service. (By the way Nick also collects guitars, rumour has it that he may give Kevin Haviland his Fender guitar)

LLEWELYN SAYS

Was chatting to my friend Kevin today about the "Church" in general. We all know that "we" are the church, the body of Christ, all uniquely gifted and performing specific roles in the church. Using the analogy of the human body, some of us are the hand, some are the fingers etc. none are more special than the other. We are all interdependent of each other. Is the "Church" not becoming obsessed with mega buildings and huge infrastructure? All this seems to affect our mobility to fulfill the great commission, never mind the huge overheads. We become so confortable in our plush chairs that we forfeit the call to "make disciples" of the nations.

*A WHM comment*

WHAT IS YOUR MOTIVE?

In our dealings with the human race on a daily basis, what is our motive when we enter into new relationships, new friendships or even new business relationships? Are we looking for a win- win situation or are we plotting to gain the maximum for ourselves, even if we have to sacrifice some of our core values. I am convinced that "man" is inherently wicked and will at every opportunity "maximise self". Should we not always err on the side of caution, mistrust and treat everyone with huge suspicion? How many times have we seen men lull women into a false sense of secutity, then "wham", take what you want and get out! Of course women are not exempt from this. They also do the same.
God says, "All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God", so yes we are all wicked!
Then the Bible also says, "Love your neighbor as yourself". So, would we deliberately deceive ourselves? No of course not!
Let us examine our friendships, our relationships and look at the motives behind each. In need, make some changes if the foundation of these is "deceit and dishonest gain".

"What will it profit a man, if he gains the whole world, yet lose his own soul?"

THE CHILDREN

BABY EMMA LORMAN

Isn't she beautiful. She is probably thinking of her grandfather in Durban

MY BEAUTIFUL GRANDAUGHTER

Well here she is! Baby Emma Elizabeth Hannah Lorman, with her beautiful Mom. (known as Cheapoochie to her Dad)

I will try post a picture just of the baby if I can get another one from Hannah in the UK

NO PEG-HEAD!

Kevin Haviland, a truly wonderful person who God has gifted greatly. Yes he knows the whole Bible off by heart! Next to him is also one of God's favourites, Ian Clench, who assisted the family of Alison with some business decisions while Alison was in ICU. No Ian is not a cross-dresser, he is straight. We had to dress-up for our end of the year function. We will try and source a more "manly" picture of him.

36TH BLOOD DONATION

Well I certainly get around. The staff at SANBS Umhlanga Rocks drive treat me as part of the family. They have been very concerned about Alison and wish us both well.

How about you doing your bit and donate blood? They are desperate at the moment.

My blood group is O positive!
